Preschool

Children must be 3 and 4 years old on or before September 1St to enter the 3-year and 4-year-old preschool classes. All children attending the pre-school program must be completely potty trained in order to enroll in preschool. All children who meet the age criteria and are enrolled full time at Kid’s Harbor Learning Center will be required to participate in our preschool program.

Vision and Hearing Requirements: The Special Senses and Communication Disorders Act, Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapter 36, requires a screening or a professional examination for possible vision and hearing problems for children 4 years of age. We provide screening twice a year at our center for a minimal cost by licensed professionals. The cost is to be paid by the parent to professionals.

Therapy Services: For any child that needs extra help with development in a certain area, we offer the opportunity for specialists to enter our facility. The cost is to be paid by the parent to professionals.

Class Times: Classes will be held Monday thru Friday from 8:00am to 3:30pm. It is very important to ensure your child is here on time so that they may be a part of the lessons/activities as much as possible. PreK3 follows Letter People Curriculum, PreK4 follows Big Day Curriculum. Our curriculums have a health and nutrition & community unit that touches on healthy oral health practices and farm to fresh healthy eating habits.

Field Trips: During the school year our classes may have opportunities for field trips. You will be notified of these field trips prior either by the monthly calendar, newsletter, or a reminder notice. Permission slips will be sent home each time a class goes on a field trip. Please be sure to return the permission slip in order for your child to participate. If your child misbehaves on the field trip, he/she may not be allowed to go on the next field trip.

Children will be transported by the Center’s vans or the Center’s school bus. Minimum Standard Rules and the Department of Public Safety, regulate how children must be secured in a vehicle. See Booster Seat Law on page 8 in our Parent Handbook for more information. We will follow all laws and rules when transporting your child to ensure your child’s safety. You cannot drop-off or pick-up your child from the field trip site. If you choose to attend a field trip, you will be responsible for your child/children’s supervision.
