Discipline & Guidance:

Most parents have questions concerning how we correct and redirect students’ behavior while in our care. We are a state licensed facility and therefore must abide by the rules and regulations set in place. Discipline and guidance shall be consistent and based on an understanding of each child’s individual needs and development. Children will not be subjected to harsh or cruel treatment. First, we always try to reach the truth of the misbehavior with the child. Second, the level of correction is determined by the misdeed, whether accidental or intentional. Various methods are implemented within the classroom that include talking to, redirecting, not receiving a reward, and removal from the situation to bring the child down from inappropriate behavior during play or a special activity.

All children will experience challenges in the classroom, which is totally natural. We stress the importance of good behavior from every child at the Center. Constant misbehavior will not be tolerated and will result in dismissal from the Center. All fees will be non-refundable. In the event we do have to dismiss a child, we will try to give you a 24-hour notice. However, any child may be dismissed at any time without advance notice at the owner’s discretion.

Biting Policy:

Our biting policy is very specific and will be strictly enforced to protect all children at Kid’s Harbor Learning Center.

• If your child bites once, you will be called and informed of the behavior.
• If your child bites twice in one day, you will be called to come and pick up your child.
• If your child has to picked up three times, you will be asked to find another center immediately.
